Claretha Ashlock Ratliff went home to be with the Lord on September 15, 2013. She was born on January 14, 1937 in Newport News, Virginia to the late Douglas and Ethel-Bell Tyler Ashlock.
Claretha graduated from Huntington High School in 1957. She was baptised at an early age. There she served on the board of ushers, missionary board and other boards of the church. She was a faithful member there.
Sister Claretha Ashlock Ratliff was married to John L. Ratliff , from this union seven children were born. Three deceased and four living; two sons; John L. Ratliff Jr. and William Ratliff of Newport News Virginia, two daughters; Joyce Ann Odukale of Atlanta Georgia and Carolyn Ratliff Smith of Newport News Virginia, 19 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren all from Newport News, Virginia. Giving honor to grandson Nathan serving in Afghanistan, one grandson Nehemiah about to enter into the Marine Corp. One sister in law and many nieces and nephews.
Her legacy will always be remembered. May God give her a ride on his beautiful rainbow as she travel among the stars in the sky, you will never be forgotten my beautiful sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A viewing will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
Services will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the M.E. Fisher Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Garden. Hampton, Virginia.
The family of Mrs. Claretha Ashlock Ratliff thanks you for all acts of kindness expressed during their time of sorrow. There will be no repast following the service.
